BUSNELLI

THE ART OF STANDING OUT

Busnelli: Luxury Italian Sofas and Iconic Seating, Since 1953

Design for a Moving Present

Living today calls for a balance in constant adaptation. Our spaces welcome different lives, shifting rhythms, and overlapping functions — and design cannot remain still. It must respond, transform, and recalibrate over time. This is the philosophy behind Busnelli, one of Italy’s most storied upholstered furniture houses, and the guiding idea of its State of Motion collection.

At Tredi Interiors, we are proud to bring Busnelli’s complete world of modular sofas, sculptural armchairs, coffee tables, and living systems to California. As a direct factory importer — with no distributors and no middlemen — we source, control, and deliver Busnelli furniture from Italy to our showrooms in Rancho Mirage (Coachella Valley) and Santa Clara (Silicon Valley), offering both private clients and trade professionals authentic Made-in-Italy quality at honest, transparent value.

Luxury Italian Sofas

A Fluid Language for Contemporary Living

The boundaries between spaces are becoming increasingly porous. Homes absorb the dynamics of public spaces; hospitality and contract settings take on a more intimate, welcoming character. Busnelli’s systems are conceived precisely for this evolution: elements designed to adapt, reconfigure, and engage with environments in constant transformation.

This makes Busnelli a natural fit for how Californians actually live — open-plan great rooms in Palm Springs desert modern estates, multifunctional living spaces in Silicon Valley residences, and boutique hospitality projects where residential comfort meets contract-grade performance. Every Busnelli project is a response to a way of living. Every system is conceived to adapt. Because continuity is not about remaining the same, but about evolving constantly.

The Modular Sofa Systems

Soonix — Rhythm and Memory

Design: Daniele Lo Scalzo Moscheri

Inspired by the benches of vintage trains, Soonix reinterprets their character on a domestic scale, softened by an organic profile. Small upholstered sections follow one another in rhythm, creating soft, welcoming surfaces with a strong visual identity. As in railway carriages, the different sections naturally accommodate a variety of seating positions — an informal, dynamic way of living the room, available in leather or fabric, in linear and modular compositions.

Ribbon — A Contemporary Melody

Design: Busnelli Design Studio

An upholstered ribbon traces the perimeter of the sofa and defines its rhythm. Regular quilting runs across the surface like a soft cadence, transforming the structure into an ordered sequence of solids and voids. Ribbon is a welcoming, open modular sofa designed for conviviality — a fluid composition, rich in detail, that adapts with ease to different settings and styles.
Eclipse — Between Light and Shadow

Design: Matteo Nunziati

Named after the closing track of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, Eclipse reflects on the balance between rationality and instinct, light and shadow, control and surrender. Compact, enveloping volumes unfold as a single continuous gesture, where seat and base merge into a monolithic, harmonious body. The system — sofa, Dune version, and armchair — conveys stability and presence while retaining visual lightness through the purity of its curves.

Armchairs: From Museum Icons to Personal Retreats

The 1969–1970 Icons by Gianni Pareschi
Armadillo (1969) — Among the most iconic pieces in the Busnelli collection, defined by a curved tubular metal frame covered with soft, handcrafted cushions. Cross-stitch detailing, tone-on-tone or contrasting, forms a refined geometric pattern expressing the product’s sartorial quality.
Baffo (1969, with Ezio Didone) — Four ends of the tubular metal frame, curved into a distinctive “moustache” shape, support the seat from above, leaving it fully suspended. A strong graphic identity born from the meeting of just two materials.
Fiocco (1970) — An icon of radical design, part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Two parallel metal profiles trace wide, sinuous lines through space, dressed in a removable, replaceable bi-elastic fabric sleeve. Largely biodegradable and easily disassembled — sustainability decades ahead of its time.
Libro (1970) — An expression of pop design, also in MoMA’s permanent collection. Its upholstered elements open and adjust like the pages of a book, modifying seat and backrest height for multiple ways of sitting.

The Busnelli Heritage: Radical Design Meets Modern Craft

Busnelli is not simply a furniture manufacturer — it is a living archive of Italian design history. In 1969 and 1970, the company produced some of the most daring seating of the radical design era, several pieces of which are held today in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Working with masters such as Gianni Pareschi and Joe Colombo, Busnelli helped define the visual language of Italian pop and radical design.

BUSNELLI

Gilmour — Balance and Layering

Design: Matteo Nunziati

A subtle tribute to Pink Floyd, Gilmour is a modular seating system defined by essential lines and compact volumes. A single backrest provides consistent support; rectangular seat cushions introduce a regular visual rhythm; the slim island base can be upholstered in continuity or in contrast. Tailored stitching defines each module with precision, while the sculpted blade foot — finished in Busnelli’s signature Ombra shadow tone — adds a light, distinctive detail. Side tray and storage accessories in heat-treated or Black Ash finishes complete the system.

Piumotto — A Tribute to the Archive

Design: Franco Driusso

Piumotto reinterprets iconic forms from Busnelli’s historical archive in a contemporary, elegant, and sustainable key. The modular system develops in linear, angular, or curved configurations, with generous curves and a distinctive burnished nickel buckle integrated into the base — a signature detail that adds refinement and personality. Round cushions with the Busnelli monogram band, two-tone leather-and-fabric upholstery, and matching leather base profiles express the sartorial soul of the collection.

Bangle — Jewelry for the Living Room

Design: CONTROVENTO (Gabriele Chiave, Mauro Martinuzzi, Giulia Zia)

Inspired by the iconic bangle bracelet, this sofa features an oversized tubular structure that wraps around the seating like a bold piece of jewelry gracing an arm. Blending rebellious energy with retro elegance, Bangle embodies a modern aesthetic that balances nostalgia with forward-thinking style — available in modular fabric compositions or sumptuous leather.

Lovely — Simplicity, Character, Versatility

Design: Ilaria Marelli

Lovely combines clean, refined lines with contrasting cushions that add personality to essential forms. Seating platforms and armrests — central or corner — combine freely into linear, angular, chaise-longue, or face-to-face configurations. Thoughtfully engineered with removable backrests and seats, washable covers, and low-environmental-impact polyurethane, Lovely adapts with ease and style to any environment.

Grumetto — Inspired by Goldsmithing

Design: Elena Salmistraro

Grumetto is a modular sofa freely inspired by goldsmithing techniques: its soft, enveloping shapes recall the interweaving of a precious chain. An integrated table serves as both functional connector and aesthetic detail, evoking the clasp of a jewel. A true eco-design project, Grumetto is fully disassemblable, allowing every component to be recycled at end of life. Reversible oval or circular cushions — including a Monogram version with a personalized fabric band — complete the composition.

Baguette — Everyday Object, Extraordinary Craft

Design: Daniele Lo Scalzo Moscheri

When an everyday object becomes a design project, creativity knows no limits. Baguette transforms the sofa into an identity object and a witness to superior Italian craftsmanship — an unconventional aesthetic executed with an extreme culture of detail, available in modular and chaise-longue compositions.
