A Fusion of Elegance and Functionality: Modern and Luxury Walk-In Closets designed and made in Italy

Modern and Luxury Walk-In Closets

A walk-in closet is more than storage — it’s a private space where your day begins and ends. At Tredi Interiors, we design walk-in closets that bring calm, order, and beauty to that daily ritual.

Our walk-in closet systems by San Giacomo are crafted entirely in Italy and designed to integrate seamlessly into your home’s architecture. Every element — from shelf heights to drawer depths to lighting placement — is configured around how you live, what you wear, and what you value.

The result is a dressing space that feels intentional, personal, and quietly luxurious.

Walk-In Closet Configurations

No two walk-in closets are alike, because no two lifestyles are alike. San Giacomo’s modular system allows us to design configurations that respond to your specific space and needs:

Linear Layout

Ideal for narrower rooms or hallway-style spaces. Components line one or both walls, maximizing storage depth without requiring a large footprint. A linear walk-in can transform an unused hallway or alcove into a fully functional dressing area.

L-Shaped Layout

Wraps two walls for more storage capacity while keeping the center of the room open. This layout works beautifully in bedroom corners or spaces adjacent to a primary bathroom.

Walk In Closet

U-Shaped Layout

The most comprehensive configuration, surrounding you on three sides with organized storage. Best suited for dedicated dressing rooms, the U-shape provides maximum capacity for hanging, shelving, drawers, and display.

Island Configuration

For larger walk-in spaces, a central island adds a dramatic focal point while providing additional drawer storage, a display surface for accessories, or an integrated seating area.

Interior Components

The beauty of an Italian walk-in closet lies in the details inside. Every component is designed with both aesthetics and function in mind:

  • Adjustable shelving that adapts as your wardrobe evolves
  • Soft-close drawers with velvet-lined compartments for jewelry and accessories
  • Double and single hanging rods at optimized heights
  • Pull-out trouser racks and tie holders
  • Dedicated shoe shelving with angled display options
  • Integrated LED lighting inside drawers, along shelves, and within hanging sections
  • Full-length mirrors and vanity areas
  • Laundry hamper compartments concealed within cabinetry

Every element can be positioned exactly where it makes sense for your daily routine.

Finishes & Materials

Your walk-in closet should reflect your personal style. Choose from San Giacomo’s full range of finishes:

Natural wood veneers in oak, walnut, and ash, along with elegant wood slats, bring organic warmth and texture to the design. Matte and gloss lacquers, available in an extensive color palette, create a clean, modern surface. Tempered glass shelving and doors in clear, frosted, or smoked finishes add visual lightness, while brushed aluminum frames and profiles provide structural contrast.

Our showrooms carry physical samples of every finish, so you can see how colors and textures interact before making your selections.

Lighting Design

Lighting transforms a walk-in closet from a storage space into an experience. Our systems integrate LED lighting at multiple levels:

Overhead ambient lighting provides even illumination across the entire space. Shelf-integrated strip lighting highlights folded items and accessories. In-drawer lighting makes it easy to find what you need without disturbing the room. Hanging section lighting ensures accurate color visibility when choosing your outfit.

All lighting is energy-efficient LED with warm or neutral color temperature options, designed to render colors accurately so what you choose in your closet looks the same in natural daylight.

Walk-In Closet — FAQ

Design & Concept

An Italian walk-in closet is not a storage solution — it is an architectural element of the home. Where standard built-in systems rely on generic configurations, commodity materials, and off-the-shelf components, Italian-designed walk-in closets from brands such as San Giacomo and Nova Mobili are built around your specific space, your wardrobe, and your daily routine. Premium woods, high-grade metals, luxury glass finishes, and precision-engineered mechanisms set them apart structurally. The design philosophy — clean lines, thoughtful proportions, and meticulous detailing — sets them apart visually. The result is a closet that elevates the room it occupies rather than simply serving a function within it.

A true walk-in closet can be realized in a space as compact as 4 × 5 feet with the right layout and planning. The key is intelligent design — using every vertical inch, optimizing the balance between hanging zones, shelving, and drawer storage, and configuring the entry so it does not consume usable interior space. Our designers work with constrained floor plans regularly and consistently find solutions that feel expansive regardless of the actual footprint. For spaces where a full walk-in is not viable, a modular wardrobe wall can deliver equivalent — and sometimes superior — storage organization within a smaller footprint. We present both options during your consultation so you can make an informed decision for your home.

Tredi Interiors offers walk-in closet systems from two of Italy’s most respected names in this category. San Giacomo is world-renowned for its architectural walk-in closet systems — an exceptional command of premium woods, refined finishes, and modular configurations that can range from the intimately scaled to the fully panoramic. Nova Mobili brings a contemporary European sensibility with sleek, customizable closet systems designed for a broad range of spaces and lifestyles. Together they represent a comprehensive offering — from quietly refined luxury to bold architectural compositions — each backed by Tredi Interiors’ full design, procurement, and installation service.

Customization & Configuration

Every aspect of the system is configured for you. The interior layout — the balance of hanging zones for long and short garments, shelving for folded items, drawer configurations, shoe racks, jewelry trays, valet rods, and accessory compartments — is determined by how you actually dress and what you own. Exterior finishes, internal panel materials, hardware, and lighting are all selected to integrate with your bedroom’s architecture and design language. Our designers begin every project by understanding your daily routine and working backward from there. No two walk-in closets we design are identical, and that is precisely the point.

The material palette is broad and carefully curated for both beauty and performance. Exterior and interior surfaces are available in natural wood veneers across a range of species and grain orientations, Italian lacquers in matte, satin, and gloss finishes across an extensive color range, premium laminates, glass panels — both clear and frosted — and mirror inserts. Metal accents, brushed aluminum profiles, and luxury hardware complete the palette. Eco-friendly and low-VOC materials are prioritized across our collections, reflecting a commitment to quality that extends to environmental responsibility.

Yes — and for larger walk-in configurations, a central island is one of the most functional and visually striking elements you can incorporate. An island provides drawer storage at a comfortable working height, a surface for laying out clothing, and a design anchor that gives the space a boutique-like quality. Seating — a bench, an upholstered ottoman, or a built-in seat with storage beneath — adds both comfort and a sense of considered luxury to the dressing experience. Full-length mirrors, whether freestanding or integrated into the perimeter composition, complete the space. Our designers will assess your floor plan and propose the configuration that best serves both function and the spatial experience you want to create.

This is one of the most valued aspects of working with Tredi Interiors as a full-home design studio. Because we carry Italian cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, closets, wardrobes, wall units, and bedroom furniture under one roof, our designers can align wood tones, lacquer colors, and hardware language across every room. The walnut veneer that anchors your walk-in closet can carry through to your bedroom wardrobe, nightstands, and kitchen cabinetry — creating an interior that feels composed and unified rather than sourced piecemeal from separate suppliers.

Features & Technology

Modern Italian walk-in closet systems go well beyond rails and shelves. Available features include integrated LED lighting — including motion-activated options that illuminate automatically as you enter — pull-out shoe racks and rotating shoe carousels, velvet-lined jewelry drawers, glass-fronted display sections for handbags and accessories, valet rods, laundry hamper compartments, and adjustable hanging configurations for varying garment lengths. Smart technology compatibility — including app-enabled lighting control and climate management for sensitive garments — is also available in select configurations. Our designers will help you identify which features genuinely improve your daily routine rather than simply adding complexity.

Lighting is one of the most transformative elements in a walk-in closet design — and one of the most frequently underestimated. LED strip lighting built into shelf edges, drawer bases, and hanging sections provides precise, flattering illumination that makes selecting and organizing clothing significantly easier. Door-activated or motion-sensor lighting switches on automatically when you enter. Perimeter lighting along the cornice of the closet creates an ambient glow that elevates the entire space. Beyond pure function, integrated lighting gives even a modestly scaled walk-in closet a boutique-level quality that makes every use of the space feel considered and pleasurable.

Space & Planning

The decision comes down primarily to available space and how you use your bedroom. A walk-in closet — a dedicated room or alcove that you physically enter — offers panoramic access, the ability to incorporate a dressing area, and a sense of separation between storage and sleeping that many homeowners find genuinely valuable. A wardrobe wall — a fitted system along one or more walls of the bedroom — can deliver equivalent or greater storage volume in a more compact footprint, and is often the stronger choice when floor area is limited. Both are equally valid expressions of Italian design excellence. Our designers will evaluate your floor plan and present both options with honest recommendations during your consultation.

Yes — and this is one of the most desirable configurations in a luxury master suite. A walk-in closet positioned between the bedroom and bathroom creates a natural dressing sequence: from sleeping, through dressing, to bathing — all within a private, cohesive suite. This layout also allows finish continuity between the closet and the bathroom vanity, which Tredi Interiors is uniquely positioned to deliver, carrying both San Giacomo and Nova Mobili closet systems alongside Idea Group and Arrital bathroom collections. Our designers have executed a number of these integrated suite configurations across California and can help you plan the spatial flow from the outset.

Process & Installation

The process begins with a complimentary design consultation — in person at our Rancho Mirage or Santa Clara showroom, or by video call. Our designers assess your space, discuss your storage habits, wardrobe requirements, and aesthetic direction, and present configuration options with finishes, interior layouts, and hardware. Once a direction is confirmed, precise site measurements are taken. Your walk-in closet is then manufactured to order in Italy by San Giacomo or Nova Mobili. Tredi Interiors manages the full import process, delivery, and professional installation — with attention to alignment, mechanical performance, lighting integration, and finish quality at every step.

Tredi Interiors primarily serves clients throughout California — from the Coachella Valley and greater Los Angeles region to the full Bay Area and Silicon Valley corridor. For exceptional projects, we are able to deliver and install anywhere in the United States, including Hawaii, upon special request. We also partner with architects and interior designers on projects across the country. Contact us to discuss your project location and scope — we are happy to explore what is possible.
