Arrital AK Project Design with Floating Cabinets · Skintech Gobin & Tecnomat Office · by Tredi Interiors
At Tredi Interiors, we believe kitchens should do more than serve as functional workspaces — they should elevate the entire living experience. For this Palm Desert remodeling project, our design team transformed a dated kitchen into a contemporary showpiece, integrating Arrital’s AK Project cabinetry with floating elements and a refined palette of Skintech Gobin and Tecnomat Office. The result is a kitchen as breathtaking as the golf course views it frames — fluid, open, and unmistakably modern.
For homeowners who are deeply sensitive to design — and who understand the difference between a kitchen that merely looks expensive and one that is genuinely engineered to last — this Palm Desert project is a study in restraint, light, and the art of celebrating a view.
The Vision: Blurring the Line Between Indoors and Outdoors
Palm Desert homes are known for their connection to nature — wide-open layouts, oversized windows, and a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living. This project began with a clear vision: to create a kitchen that enhances, rather than interrupts, the home’s panoramic golf course view.
The homeowners requested a contemporary European design that was minimal yet luxurious, prioritizing clean lines, spaciousness, and visual balance. They wanted a kitchen that would serve as a gathering hub for family and friends while maintaining a light, airy feel that carries the eye straight through to the landscape beyond. Every decision that followed was made in service of that goal — to design not just a beautiful room, but a frame for the desert scenery.
The Solution: Arrital AK Project — Italian Design at Its Best
To bring this vision to life, we chose Arrital’s AK Project collection — a hallmark of modern Italian kitchen design. AK Project is known for its modularity, versatile configurations, and refined finishes, making it the perfect canvas for a project that required both architectural precision and creative freedom.
The cabinetry was designed to float above the floor, using carefully integrated support systems that provide stability without visible bulk. This floating effect not only lightens the kitchen’s visual footprint but also guides the eye outward, allowing the stunning golf course backdrop to remain the focal point. AK Project’s clean, handleless fronts and seamless surfaces were essential here: by keeping the cabinetry quiet and uninterrupted, the design ensures nothing competes with the landscape. Every module was specified, imported from Italy, and installed to exacting tolerances, delivering a kitchen that performs as beautifully as it looks for decades to come.
Floating Cabinets: Creating Fluidity and Lightness
The decision to use floating base cabinets was key to the project’s success. By removing the heavy visual anchors of floor-mounted cabinetry, the design achieves a remarkable sense of lightness and flow. The floor surface remains visible beneath the cabinets, making the kitchen feel larger, airier, and more open — and reinforcing the seamless, indoor-outdoor sensibility the home is built around.
The floating approach also creates a feeling of fluidity, as though the cabinetry hovers effortlessly within the space. It lifts the eye, draws it through the room, and ultimately directs it outward toward the view. In a desert home defined by its connection to the landscape, this levitating quality is more than a stylistic choice — it is the very heart of the design.
Material Selection: Modern, Minimal, and Natural
For this kitchen, material selection was critical to maintaining balance, and Tredi Interiors composed a palette of Skintech Gobin and Tecnomat Office — two finishes chosen to reflect the desert light and complement the home’s natural surroundings.
Skintech Gobin brings warmth and organic character. A soft, stone-inspired tone with a tactile, matte quality, Gobin grounds the kitchen in natural warmth, echoing the earthy palette of the desert landscape outside. Its understated surface reflects the abundant Palm Desert light beautifully without glare, keeping the space serene and inviting rather than clinical. It is the finish that gives the kitchen its sense of comfort and connection to place.
Tecnomat Office provides a refined, contemporary counterpoint. A technically advanced and highly durable surface in a sophisticated neutral tone, Tecnomat Office introduces structure and modern composure, balancing the warmth of the Gobin with cool, architectural calm. Engineered for resilience, it stands up to the demands of an active kitchen while maintaining its day-one beauty for years.
The interplay between these matte, tactile, and refined finishes creates visual interest without clutter — a hallmark of contemporary European design. Warm against cool, organic against engineered, the Skintech Gobin and Tecnomat Office palette gives the kitchen genuine depth while keeping it light, neutral, and perfectly attuned to its desert setting.
Spatial Planning: Open, Inviting, and Functional
Functionality was as important as aesthetics. The island was designed to serve as a social hub, offering seating for casual dining and generous prep space for cooking. Its floating design mirrors the wall cabinets, reinforcing the theme of fluidity throughout the space and tying the composition together.
The layout was carefully planned to optimize workflow while preserving openness. Clear zones for cooking, preparation, and gathering keep the kitchen efficient and intuitive, while the open-plan arrangement connects it seamlessly to the surrounding living and dining areas. Generous, intelligently organized storage — a signature of the AK Project system — keeps the surfaces clear and the space uncluttered, ensuring the clean lines of the design are never compromised by the realities of daily life. The kitchen is, above all, a place to gather: a space where family and friends naturally come together, framed by the desert view.
Lighting: Enhancing the Design and the View
Lighting played a critical role in this design. We installed LED strips beneath the floating cabinetry, emphasizing the levitating effect while adding a soft, ambient glow at night. This integrated lighting makes the cabinets appear to hover even more dramatically after dark, transforming the kitchen into a warm, atmospheric space once the sun sets over the desert.
Overhead recessed lighting provides balanced, even illumination without interfering with the sightlines. By avoiding bulky fixtures and focusing on discreet, integrated lighting, we ensured the space remains bright and inviting by day and softly luminous by night — yet always visually unobstructed, so the view remains the star.
Framing the View: A Kitchen with a Purpose
Every design decision came back to one guiding principle: celebrate the view. The cabinetry was kept low and linear, directing attention outward toward the expansive golf course. Rather than filling the space with visual weight, the design strips away everything unnecessary, leaving only clean lines, warm materials, and uninterrupted sightlines.
This kitchen isn’t just a room — it’s a frame for the landscape, merging indoor comfort with the serenity of outdoor living. It is the purest expression of the desert modern ideal: a home that lives in harmony with its surroundings, where the boundary between inside and outside all but disappears.
Uncompromising Quality and Made in Italy
Tredi Interiors is renowned for its commitment to delivering the highest quality products and services, and this project was no exception. The Italian kitchen cabinets anchoring this Palm Desert home are genuinely Made in Italy by Arrital — engineered to exacting European standards and finished with materials, like Skintech and Tecnomat, chosen for both beauty and longevity.
As a dedicated design studio and direct importer, Tredi Interiors managed every stage of the process — from concept and 3D visualization to importation, coordination, and precise installation — ensuring the finished kitchen reads as a single, flawless architectural element. It is also a quietly sustainable choice: cabinetry built to last for decades, rather than replaced every ten years, significantly reduces a home’s long-term footprint.
